The Philippine Eagle Foundation, 2018 Triennial awardee for the outstanding institution was organized in 1987 and it has done numerous programs and near impossible efforts to save the endangered Philippine Eagle.
“To save the Philippine Eagle is to save the rainforest and its habitat. They say it takes a village to raise a child but, it also takes a village to save a species from extinction,” said biologist Jayson Ibanez, director of PEF research and conservation program who received the award for PEF.
Dr. Valdez is a surgeon who specializes in cleft palate surgery in the remotest communities in Mindanao and Palawan area. He is described as a “tireless volunteer.”
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Valdez said that without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community. “There is nobility in charity,” he added.
